Holiday Hiatus - The Jam

Shockingly The Jam have never featured on these pages before.
Time to right that wrong.
A band who have produced around twenty singles which would all merit a mention.
For me, however, it is difficult to see past these two which you will all be familiar with

The Jam - Down in the Tube Station at Midnight

The Jam - The Eton Rifles

  1. Tube Station is my favourite. I wish Weller had written more stories like that one. Saving it for an eventual Top Ten Songs Where The Singer Dies At The End...

  2. Two faultless tunes right there.

  4. I was never a huge fan of the Jam (although I love the Sound Affects album) but those 2 songs are absolute beauties.

  6. I see your Tube Station and Rifles, and raise you Bitterest Pill.
Subjective, I know, but I think you know you're beaten...! J

  7. Don't get me started!!!!!!!!!!!!

First band I ever went totally nuts for. Some of the earlier material may not have aged all that well but from the singles just before 'All Mod Cons' all the way through to 'Beat Surrender' there was barely a duff tune all the way.

And Weller was ridiculously young too....
